Heather Matarazzo and Caroline Murphy wanted to get married in California, but Prop 8 squashed those plans.

Then they moved to New York. The couple thought they'd get hitched last September (then-governor David Patterson even said he'd marry them) but legalization of gay marriage in the Empire State failed to happen.

Fortunately, that turned around last month. The Welcome to the Dollhouse actress and Murphy, an aspiring singer working on her first album, are once again planning a New York wedding...

The two, who got engaged in 2008, want an outdoors ceremony and reception for about 200 guests.

"I would love to wear a dress and Caroline would love to wear a very sexy off-white suit," Matarazzo tells me. "We want it to be a very very magical weekend...Caroline is my life."

Murphy will likely sing at the wedding. "My dad sang to my mom at their wedding, 'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,' " she said. "I love the idea of following in his footsteps."

"The truth of the matter is if Caroline and I had never met but I still got to see her perform I would be equally as transfixed as I am now," Matarazzo gushed. "I don't say that just as her wife-to-be and someone who loves her, but she's an incredibly brilliant artist."

They have big plans to start a family. Both want to experience pregnancy at least once and they'd like to adopt (Matarazzo is adopted). "I can't wait to meet our children," Matarazzo said with a laugh. "I'm so excited. I remember telling my mother since I was little that I would be the first one to give her grandchildren and so far, I'm right."
