Such is the life of Russell Brand and Katy Perry, whose relationship has, pretty much since the get-go (thanks to the reformed lothario's infamous reputation between the sheets) been subjected to nonstop headlines about their supposed trouble in paradise.
But in the wake of the most recent surge of speculation—this time, the rumor mill has them close to a trial separation after Russell was spotted in the vicinity of a brunette who isn't Katy—the couple is fighting back.
"Just cause we don't flaunt our relationship doesn't mean there's something wrong w/it," Perry tweeted. "Privacy is our luxury. #tabloidsrtrash #gossipisgross"
Russell also got in on the denial act, cheering on his wife's crystal clear dismissal of the rumors.
"You tell em Mrs Brand! In Britain we're currently dismantling the scum media so I'm not tuned in to their brain-farting."
Katy, apparently, was tuned in to them, though. While rumors of marital strife have plagued the couple for months ever, this time around, it was the Daily Mail and the British weekly magazine Heat that took the lead on spearheading the newest round of reports.
While the Daily Mail last week raised concerns (they're such a helpful bunch, aren't they?) about the fact that Brand was photographed with a "Katy Perry lookalike"—who, incidentally, looks nothing like Katy Perry—it's Heat that really takes the blame, running a story this week claiming that the couple were closing in on taking a trial separation.
Citing, as ever, unnamed sources close to the couple, the rag blamed conflicting work schedules on the fact that they'd only seen each other four days in the past six months and had Katy mulling over a split with her comedian hubby.
And if that sounds familiar, well, that's because it should. Just a few months ago, Perry sicced her legal team on NW, an Australian tabloid, for claiming that she had been less than faithful to her hubby of nine months.
We told you. Don't mess with her.
