Daniel Baldwin's Double Whammy: Divorcing and Restraining Wife!

Actor splits from wife for the safety of himself and his children, saying his wife has substance problems

Not a banner week in Baldwinland.

Just one day after filing a restraing order against his wife, Daniel Baldwin has filed for divorce.

The actor is blaming the split on wife Joanne's problems with drugs and alcohol and has had her removed from the Oregon house where he lives with the couple's two children.

Baldwin, who married Joanne in 2007, is currently back at the family abode in Portland and has temporary custody of the kids, confirms the actor's rep.

Calling the breakup sad, the brother of Alec issued a statement detailing why he ended the marriage.

"Sadly I must report that I have decided to part ways with my wife Joanne," said Baldwin, 50. "Due to recent events in our home and for the safety of my children and myself, I have made this decision. My hopes and prayers are with Joanne that she may recover frmo her recent problems and reclaim her role in our children's lives.

"I have had my share of problems with drugs and alcohol many years ago and know first hand how difficult a position she is in. With the help of God and a program of action she too will be victorious."

There was no immediate comment from Joanne, who was served yesterday by local sheriff's deputies and and escorted from the house.
