So does Joan approve of the Duchess of Cambridge's pale gray Roksanda Ilincic dress that she wore when she touched down in La-La Land?
"Kate's dress reminds me of Jessica Simpson—wait, hear me out—because it's simple and it still works!" Joan quips.
Fans and onlookers have been buzzing about Kate's slim figure, but La Rivers explains: "She looks even thinner now than she did at the wedding. I guess when you go to Hollywood for the first time, you don't want to be greeted by Victoria Beckham saying, 'Here comes fat-ass!' "
But all hope is not lost in the weight issue. "In honor of the visit, the famous L.A. hot dog stand Pinks has created a special Royal Dog, which consists of two franks, mustard, cheese, onions, relish, bacon and chili—because if they really want to fit in America, they each need to gain about 100 pounds," the star snarks.
What could possibly be on the newlywed's L.A. to-do list?
"One of the items on their itinerary is a jobs fair, because even if you're a princess, in this economy you gotta have a Plan B," Joan jokes.
And though the Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? reality star is thrilled that Their Royal Highnesses are in town, she's got one concern.
"I hope Hollywood doesn't corrupt them. I worry that after a couple of days, Kate will say she wants a divorce so she can be the new Bachelorette."
