CW Renews One Tree Hill and Nikita, Cancels Hellcats

Long-running soap gets a ninth, 13-episode season; freshman series are split, with Maggie Q returning while cheerleader dramedy is dropped

Save one show? More like save two shows! That's right, the CW has renewed fan-favorite and long-standing One Tree Hill and the ass-kicking Nikita! OTH, always on the bubble, will have a season nine consisting of 13 episodes.

But with this good news comes bad news. The Tom Welling-produced cheerleader dramedy Hellcats has been canceled after one season. Shall we try to focus on the positive CW announcement? We shall…

Nikita stars Shane West and Lyndsy Fonseca were quick to tweet their excitement to the fans, along with Melinda Clarke, who apparently did some physical form of celebration: "Wow!!!! I jumped high! Congrats! I love you guys!"
