Not Your Mother's Chick Flick

Not You Mother's Chick Flick

It's been a while since I've been so excited by a movie that I'm recommending it to everyone (well, maybe not recommending it to my mom). Will it be Oscar nominated? Probably not. Will it go down in movie history?  Ummmm…no.  But is it worth your 15 bucks opening weekend?  Absolutely!

Bridesmaids is freakin' high-larious! I checked out the film two weeks ago and I was rolling from beginning to end.  It's being referred to as the male Hangover but I feel this film doesn't deserve to be compared to any other—it's in a class all it's own.  I love and appreciate a good raunchy comedy—Get Him to the Greek, The Hangover, etc...but we're long overdue for a female-driven comedy, and I'm not talking chick flick, 'cause Bridesmaids ain't that!

Having come off my own wedding, acted as maid of honor in my best friend's wedding and spent a wine fueled bachelorette weekend for my other friend's upcoming nuptials—this movie is definitely relatable in terms of the craziness that goes along with being in a wedding. But what I find even more relatable is the relationship between the women.  Finally—women in a movie talking about the things my girlfriends and I talk about over a bottle (or two, or three, or four) of pinot.  It's honest, funny, and well sometimes, it's just down right rated-R.

Grab your girls, your boyfriend (E!'s resident film critic Ben Lyons loved the movie—so it's not just for chicks), or your favorite bottle of champagne and check out Bridesmaids this weekend!
