Ladies and gents, we have our Haymitch Abernathy!

We were the first to tell you last week that he was the studio's top choice for the key Hunger Games role, and this goofy guy has officially landed the role of Katniss' curmudgeonly alcoholic mentor.

Let's all give a warm welcome to...

Woody Harrelson!

In an announcement just released by Lionsgate, The Hunger Games director Gary Ross states, "Haymitch is such an unforgettable character: funny cranky outrageous, sarcastic, impatient, biting but ultimately kind. I'm so grateful we have Woody Harrelson to play him. I can't wait for us to get to work."

Neither can we!

While we all thought Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., Gerard Butler or Hugh Laurie would also be good choices to join the cast as Haymitch, Harrelson is a decision we can definitely get behind.

And hopefully Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson feel good about the decision too, since they will share plenty of screen time with Harrelson.

Since Haymicth is the only winner of the brutal Hunger Games in District 12's history, it's his duty to train the poor kids picked to battle to the death, even though he is now a middle-aged man with a serious drinking problem. Though hard on Katniss and Peeta at times, it is evident the caustic Haymitch cares for his young tributes.

Looks like we're just waiting on our Cinna now. Any guesses?
