Now if they only ask Bill Maher, we could have a dance-off for the ages!
The funnyman's favorite former guest, Tea Party postergirl Christine O'Donnell, says she has been courted by the producers of Dancing With the Stars for the the upcoming season. O'Donnell, of course, is perhaps best known for admitting on Maher's Politically Incorrect that she was once a witch.
Perhaps a quickstep to The Eagles' "Witchy Woman"? A samba to Santana's "Black-Magic Woman"? We can only hope...
"I just got the Official "Ask" from Dancing With the Stars!!," failed Senate candidate wrote on her Facebook wall. "Although I am utterly flattered, my initial thought was to decline, as 2-year-old nephew has more rhythm than me, and my two left feet."
The Delaware politico then solicited her fans' opinions, many of whom are urging her to go for it ("Do it. Look how well they made Bristol [Palin] dance," wrote one), while others suggested the ABC series was a trap set by the left-leaning entertainment industry and the "drive-by media" to crucify and then there were the haters ("Witches can't dance!!" opined another).
"The facebook comments about Dancing w The Stars list great pros and cons," O'Donnell wrote. "Thank you for your input. Still undecided. Book comes first."
By book, she means the memoir she's writing reflecting back on her upstart 2010 Senate bid when, despite defeating the GOP favorite in the primary with Tea Party support, she got trounced in the general election, where she was portrayed as kooky by the media, which replayed the Maher clip countless times.
She wouldn't be the first right-wing politician to appear on Dancing. Aside from Palin, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has also strutted his stuff on the show.
O'Donnell better hurry up and make a decision, though. While ABC declined to comment on her casting, the network is set to unveil the full slate of DWTS contenders next Monday night during The Bachelor.
