Michael Buckner/Getty ImagesIt was just a few months ago that the celebrity tabloid world was in a tizzy with reports that Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner were engaged.
Turns out, the rumor was false.
"I think if you've been together as long as we've been together and you're not married, it's like, What's going on? Is this Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell?" Wagner says.
So what is going on? Even though the Melrose Place alums have been dating for about four years, Wagner says there's a very good reason why there's been no wedding...
"The reality is she has a 13-year-old daughter and I have a 16-year-old son," Wagner told me earlier today. "To try to put two families together, everything has to be in place to do that. It's more about…doing the right thing for the kids. That's kind of what our focus is right now."
Wagner's also focused on work. He's about to take off for an international press tour to promote his soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. And tomorrow night, he pops up on TV Land's Hot in Cleveland playing a doctor opposite Valerie Bertinelli.
Wagner and Bertinelli actually go way back—like very way back."My first job in town, I was an extra for Valerie's wedding on One Day at a Time," Wagner said. "I don't think I ever told her that, but I was working at Universal Studios as a tour guide and I went down to the casting office. I wound up getting a little part sitting in a pew at the wedding."
