Has Clint Eastwood found his dream girl in Beyoncé?

The Oscar-winning filmmaker, who took a turn for the softer with Hereafter, is in talks to direct yet another version of A Star Is Born, and Beyoncé is in talks to play the leading lady, Warner Bros. confirms to E! News.

Talk about your odd couples! Though the tried-and-true story's tragic elements are theoretically right up Eastwood's alley, and Beyoncé can obviously handle the singing...

FYI, this would be the fourth incarnation of A Star Is Born.

The 1937 original had rising star Janet Gaynor falling in love with the fading Frederic March. In 1954, Judy Garland rose while James Mason fell. And in 1976, Barbra Streisand (and those curls!) found her voice with the help of an increasingly self-destructive Kris Kristofferson.

First up for Eastwood, however, is his J. Edgar Hoover biopic, J. Edgar, which is currently in preproduction with Leonardo DiCaprio starring as the controversial FBI director.
