Faster than you can say rebound, James has announced his engagement to L.A. Ink star and tattoo artist Kat Von D.
Here's hoping this old dog has learned some new tricks...
"You know, sometimes the public and press gets it wrong," he told People. "This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs."
The gushing didn't stop there.
"I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day. My love for her is beyond description. So honored that she said 'yes.' Growing old with her is going to be a f---in' blast!"
Ah, there's the James we know and love.
The duo soon took to their Twitter pages to confirm the news.
"Waking up to what @FreeJesseJames said about our engagement this morning brought tears to my eyes, in the best way possible..." Von D tweeted. "I guess the 'kat' is outta the bag, eh? Thank you for all the wonderful, loving congratulations from you all. Overwhelmed with joy right now!"
For his part, James tweeted back, "I only said it cuz it's TRUE!! I love You!"
The engagement news may seem sudden, but is about par for the gushing, PDA-laden course for these two.
"They say True love will always shine through," James tweeted earlier this month. "The only reason I started Twitter again? so I could publicly profess my love for @thekatvond."
"Baby?" he wrote later. "You make it so easy to do everything I can to show you how Amazing you are. I see it clear as a bell. My other half."
Von D responded in kind, and also told People, "There is no one else for me. He's the one."
There's no word yet on a wedding date for the 41-year-old James and the 28-year-old Von D—who have been dating since last summer, right around the time James' divorce from Bullock was finalized—but there's also no word on a permanent home for them. While Von D is based in Los Angeles, James is locked down in Austin. Not that it's apparently been a problem for them.
"Having two places we call home will be good for now," she said. "In the end, home is where the heart is, and my heart's with him."
It'll be the second trip down the aisle for Von D, and the fourth for James. We're sure this time's the charm.
