Get ready for a smokin' hot motorcycle-riding gun-wielding Ryan Gosling.

Not kidding, either. Gosling is reteaming with his Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance on something called The Place Beyond the Pines.

Sounds good so far, right?

"It's a crime drama," he told me yesterday at the Critics' Choice Awards in Hollywood last night. "It takes place in Schenectady, New York. It's all about, like, the sins of the fathers playing out in the lives these two sons.

"It has a little more action than Blue Valentine had," he continued. "This one has motorcycles and guns in it. With Blue Valentine I wanted to make a very violent movie without guns because I hate guns so much because every movie has guns in it...But it's hard to make a violent movie without guns it so the next one has a gun."

Cianfrance is also developing Muscle, a new series for HBO.

"It's about bodybuilders," he said. "It's sort of an urban retelling of a boy that gets sand kicked in his face. The reason I'm doing it as a TV show is that I can actually have an actor get big. I can get an actor start out as [small] but five seasons later, he's big."

He has yet to cast the starring role. In other words, young skinny actors looking for a job, please apply. We'll assume a gym membership is included.
