The tragic shooting near Tucson, Ariz. that left U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition, six others dead and more wounded, has One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush speaking out about one of the victims.

Christina Green, the 9-year-old girl who was gunned down at the congresswoman's town hall meeting Saturday, is the actress's cousin.

"There are no words to explain what my cousin's family is going through in Arizona. How can this be? Violence is never the answer," Bush wrote on her Twitter page. "She was my 2nd cousin... Devastating."

According to The New York Times, Bush's cousin Green was born on September 11, 2001, and once appeared in a book called 50 Faces of Hope that showed children born on 9/11, which was sold to benefit 9/11 charities.

"From the very beginning, she was an amazing child," her mother, Roxanna Green, told the Times. "She was very bright, very mature, off the charts. She was the brightest thing that happened that day."

Rep. Giffords is the cousin of Gwyneth Paltrow. Although they have yet to meet, the Country Strong star sent well-wishes to the politician, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

"Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting congresswoman Giffords, my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family as well as the other victims of this horrible act of senseless violence," Paltrow said in a statement.
