Rick Diamond/Getty ImagesThat Kellie Pickler always did march to the beat of her own drummer. So while her showbiz peers were tripping over themselves to get engaged this holiday season, the American Idol alum was one step ahead of the pack, and took the actual marital plunge.
And under quite the veil of secrecy, no less.
A rep for Pickler's record label, Sony Music, confirmed the private vow swap, but not much else, refusing to pin the location of the wedding anywhere more specific than "somewhere in the Caribbean."
"Country star Kellie Pickler and songwriter Kyle Jacobs were married in an intimate ceremony on Saturday, January 1, 2011 on a private island in the Caribbean," the statement read. "No further details or photos are available at this time."
What better way to ring in the new year than with a ring?
Just days before the vow swap, Pickler took to Twitter, linking to a black and white of the couple together with the caption, "crAzy about this man." The day before she noted a "girls night" in Nashville that, more than likely, served as her bachelorette party.
The 24-year-old country cutie has been dating Jacobs since 2008, and announced their engagement this summer. He popped the question on a Florida beach on June 15, the birthday of Pickler's late grandmother, whom she credits with having raised her.
There's no word yet on whether Pickler's father—who famously abandoned the singer in her youth, but with whom she reunited last year—was present for the ceremony or even, as she had hoped, walked her down the aisle. Whatever the case, congrats, you two!
