The international blogging and poetry worlds suffered a major blow this week as Rosie O’Donnell announced both her addiction to blogging and her desire to beat the computer monkey that clings so desperately to her back. “i am taking off august/ in blog-ville/ 2 c if i can / rosie unplugged,” wrote the renowned humanitarian in her final blog entry.

Over the years, the feisty thespian who stole our hearts with her portrayal of Betty Rubble has delighted fans with blog entries utilizing a groundbreaking haiku-like poetry style that involves numbers and even single letters to evoke a wealth of insight and emotions, a remarkable shorthand the busy star developed due to the time-consuming hell of writing full words. She’s offered us both Hollywood insider dish:

“christian bale
has an almost eye mole
i - sadly - have something similar
a skin taggy lump”

And comforting words of encouragement during times of crisis:

“storms r raging in south florida
as the midwest drowns
try to focus
u know”

Whether O’Donnell will recover from her nightmarish addiction and return to the blogosphere next month is anyone’s guess. Until then, humanity will have to somehow learn to survive without the words of the world’s greatest celebrity-lesbian-poet-actress-stand-up-author person. U Get well soon 4 us, Row-Z.
