That cool, shaggy coif was the High School Musical star's signature style, but just after his split from longtime love Vanessa Hudgens, Zac ditched the 'do for a buzz cut.

Coincidence?

Yep.

Zac actually chopped his locks for his latest movie, The Lucky One, in which he plays an Iraq War vet in search of love. One, er, lucky fan posed for a snapshot with the newly single and newly shorn heartthrob.

The 23-year-old wasn't the only one on set who did the deed. Zac told the cast and crew he would donate money to the Kingsley House, a New Orleans-based charity that helps local children and families, for every person who also cut his or her hair. According to Nola, about 30 volunteers stepped up to the task.

Aw, way to give back, babe!
