Amber Portwood isn't shying away from facing the music.

The Teen Mom star surrendered to Indiana police this afternoon to be booked on felony charges of domestic battery and neglect, E! News confirms.

"Amber is scared," Amber's brother, Shawn Portwood, exclusively tells us. "Gary is here with us. He's upset, too."

That would be Gary Shirley, the father of Amber's 2-year-old and the target of her allegedly violent outburst.

"It's just been awful because we were supposed to have Christmas all together with my mom today and [the cops] picked her up an hour before," Shawn said.

His sister is currently in custody on a 24-hour hold, so she won't be released until tomorrow, despite having already posted $5,000 bail.

"It is fairly common for someone to be placed on a 24-hour hold when they have these types of charges," said a spokesman for the Madison County Sheriff's Department. "It is nothing unusual."

Prosecutors filed two felony counts of domestic battery, one felony count of neglect of a dependent and one misdemeanor count of domestic battery, earlier today following a months-long investigation into whether a skirmish between Portwood and Shirley—some of which aired on MTV in October—merited criminal charges.

Amber is facing up to three years in jail and a $10,000 fine if convicted on all charges.
