Did Ed O'Neill just let a little Al Bundy creep back in?

During a press conference in L.A. on Monday, the former Married...With Children patriarch was chatting with a group of journalists about his current hit show Modern Family when he used the opportunity to take a bit of a dig at Glee star Jane Lynch and her recent Emmy win.

"I love Jane, honestly I do. I'm dying to star in one of [Best in Show director] Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part," said O'Neill, per TVGuide.com. "[Sue Sylvester] is just a one-note character."

Ouch!

So who does he think should have walked away in August with the statuette for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series? Not surprisingly, his Modern Family costar Sofia Vergara

"Sofia is just so, so funny. I don't think people realize how hilarious she is," O'Neill pointed out. "She's so sharp with her wit, it's amazing."

Of course, we can't help but wonder what Sue Sylvester would have to say about this. Though we're guessing it would probably be something funny, hilarious, sharp, witty and amazing.
