When your oft-stated goal is total world domination, it's safe to assume you're more of a big picture kind of gal.

Which explains why Madonna might have been too busy plastering portraits of herself on the walls of her Mexico City Hard Candy Fitness to remember some of the smaller details. Like obtaining a permit to open the gym in the first place.

Just two days after the grand opening of Madonna's inaugural gym, the hard body HQ is in danger of being shut down after it emerged that the pop star's camp failed to obtain a land use permit, draft up a security plan, or present to the municipality that they have a certificate proving it can provide adequate parking for its clientele.

The fitness center has until Friday to get the proper permit. So why was Madonna allowed to hold a headline-grabbing ribbon cutting and grand opening Monday night?

Well, because she's Madonna, that's why.

Demetrio Sodi, the chief of the Miguel Hidalgo municipality in which Hard Candy Fitness is located—and incidentally the uncle of Latin star Thalia—said that he knew the gym was lacking the required paperwork, but granted the singer a special permit so that opening day could go off without a hitch.

Incidentally, while there's no wiggle room in obtaining the land permit by week's end, Madonna & Co. will have additional time to line up all their other required paperwork.

Still, this sort of thing would never happen to Gwyneth.
