The Toys are back in town—and, if all goes as expected, they're headed for the Oscars.
Disney-Pixar's universally acclaimed Toy Story 3 appears to be the overwhelming favorite to collect the Animated Feature trophy, leading a pack 15 'toons that are eligible for the category at the 83rd Academy Awards.
Buzz and Woody's stiffest competiton looks like it will come from the supervillains of Megamind and Despicable Me, the ogre antics of Shrek Forever After; the sleeper hit How to Train Your Dragon and Disney's upcoming princess flick, Tangled.
A complete list of films up for consideration after the jump:
Once again archrival DreamWorks Animation will likely provide the biggest hurdle to Toy Story 3's chances, with three strong contenders in Dragon, Megamind and the fourth Shrek. Pixar, which previously scored Best Animated Oscars for Up, Wall-E and Ratatouille, will also likely push hard for a Best Picture nod for Toy Story 3.
Per Academy guidelines, because only 15 'toons were deemed eligible, there will be three films ultimately competing in the Animated Feature category. (16 or more films would have resulted in five contenders for the prize).
Nominations will be announced on Jan. 25, with the awards getting divvied up on Feb. 27.
