Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo Engaged (Don't Cry, Jess!)

Betrothed couple have dated off and on since 2006

Nick Lachey has moved on, alright. So far on he's got the altar in sight.

Despite a brief split last summer, the onetime Newlyweds star is engaged to Vanessa Minnillo, E! News confirmed Thursday.

"We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together," the couple said in a statement.

Advice for the happy couple, who started seeing each other in 2006: Steer clear of reality shows.

There's no word yet from the camp of Lachey's ex-wife, one Jessica Simpson. While the pop star hasn't had the easiest time of it since their 2005 breakup, she appears to be in a positive relationship at last with retired NFL player Eric Johnson.

And all was civil when the two couples ended up at the same L.A. restaurant—the gods were smiling on the paparazzi that day—a couple weeks ago.

"Hey all. If anyone's heard the rumors of my engagement, they are absolutely true!" Lachey tweeted this afternoon. "Vanessa and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the love."
