Perfect casting alert: James Franco just bought the rights to Stephen Elliott's The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir of Moods, Masochism and Murder, which he intends to adapt, direct and star in.

James is known for picking whatever roles he wants, when he wants (General Hospital anyone?). And knowing Franco's eccentric personality, this role is all too fitting.

Elliot's memoir is apparently a "riveting journey through a neon landscape of false confessions, self-medication, and torturous sex" that also incorporates writers block, a murder trial, and S&M.

Intrigued?

We are, too, so much so we might have to buy the book and read it so we can get a better grasp on what dark role lies ahead for James (promise we won't just flip to the sex stuff).

Seriously though, don't you just love how this randy Franco guy picks his roles? He wasn't afraid to go gay more than once, appear on a ridiculous TV soap, or even go back to school. An actor's actor this guy is and we heart him for it.

So who's pumped about Franco's next flick? First we'll obviously check out James cut off his own arm in 127 Hours (there's Oscar buzz there folks) but then we hope he gets cracky-crackin' on this flick stat.
