Brace yourselves, Bachelor fans, because Chris Harrison just gave us an update on the never-ending search for ABC's next rose bearer—and it's not pretty.

(Here's a hint: The ladies are all gussied up and ready to fight for a night in the fantasy suite love, but that special man is still MIA)...

"We are starting production soon, and we're going to need somebody," Chris tells us with a nervous laugh. And by soon, we're talkin' s-o-o-n. In fact, the folks behind The Bachelor are so desperate to fill the huge ratings gap left by Jake Pavelka and Ali Fedotowsky's record-breaking seasons, respectively, they're enlisting our help.

"If you know any good bachelors out there, let me know," Chris jokes. OK, he's kidding, but the host with the most is still open to bringing back a previous contender (à la Chris L.) or even spicing things up with a new guy, like the Bachelor days of yore.

"I've actually fought for both," he tells us. "Can we go back to somebody who's an unknown? My theory is yes, we can do it. It'd have to be a good story. But I also walk the fence and subscribe to the theory of, 'When you show up, you know Ali and you're invested. Whether you love her or you hate her, you're vested and you're going to watch.' On the other hand, I just want to get someone new, break the cycle!"

Is longshot Chris L. still the Bachelor of your dreams, or are you down for a newbie to step in? Sound off below, and don't forget to check out the finale of Bachelor Pad tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.
