But we had to wonder where boyfriend Penn Badgley was?
Penn told me he decided not attend any shows to let Blake shine solo...
"We don't always need to be paired together with publicity kind of stuff," he explained at In Touch Weekly's Idols and Icons post-VMA party last night. "So for her, I'm letting her do that because that's her thing."
"I don't belong there and I'm happy to let her do it," Penn continued. "She's carving out this amazing path. I'm really proud of her."
Aww, what a supportive (but not overly clingly) guy. Love him!
Another major moment Penn missed: He didn't get to shoot in Paris for the latest season of Gossip Girl.
And of course, since the new season premieres tonight, I begged Penn for some juicy scoop.
"There's a baby on the way," he told me. Which would be major news and super exciting if Michelle Trachtenberg's character, Georgina, hadn't shown up sporting a huge bump in the season finale.
Oh, well. We'll still be watching!
