We know. You're shocked at this pick. But since only, oh, every other outlet in the world is doing it too, we decided we'd go out on a limb and select Hawaii Five-0 as our No. 1 pick for fall. In our defense, we loved it from the get-go—and here's why...
Hawaii Five-0 (CBS)
Premieres Monday, September 20, 10-11 p.m.
Time-Slot Competition: Castle (ABC), Chase (NBC)
Cast: Alex O'Loughlin, Daniel Dae Kim, Scott Caan, Grace Park
Status: We've seen the pilot episode.
Hawaii Five-0 is the most buzzed-about new show of the season for a very, very good reason. The one-hour pilot is competitive in every way with most big-screen action movies, the cast is fantastic, and the writers do a great job rebooting the 1970s hit series with just enough modern flair to make it new again. Totally over-the-top in all the best ways, Hawaii Five-0 is a textbook TV hit.
In this new version, Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight) is appropriately brawny and bossy as Steve McGarrett, chief of a special Hawaii state anticrime task force; Scott Caan (Ocean's Eleven, Entourage) is unexpectedly hilarious as transplanted New Jersey meathead Danno; Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) is his usual sexy and likable self as disgraced former cop and connected local Chin-Ho Kelly; and Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica) is the wholesome yet scantily clad rookie with the smokin' bod.
If we had to recommend just one new show this fall season, that show would be, hands down, Hawaii Five-0. Tune in!
Note: Kristin is en route to Hawaii right now to attend Hawaii Five-0's series premiere party and also to visit the set, so if you have any questions, be sure to send them via her Twitter @KristinDSantos. And no, she doesn't have Alex's phone number...but she'll work on that for you.
