While we would love to see Joel McHale compete on Dancing With the Stars, he's not exactly jumping at the chance.

But that doesn't mean he's turned down an invite to be on the show...

The Soup man's rep is shooting down a Hollywood Reporter article that suggested he had declined ABC's offer to be on this new season of DWTS because "it is 100 percent false that he was offered a spot on this year's show."

McHale isn't the only celeb to take issue with the Reporter story.

Tim Allen was also named in the piece, but a rep for Home Improvement comic also insisted he's never been asked.

The article also claims politicos like former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and conservative pundit Ann Coulter have taken a pass, as has Price is Right host Drew Carey and gazillionaire businessman Richard Branson.

Sources tell us that producers did ask but failed to convince Ryan O'Neal to dip into the mirrorball competition this time around. Jamie Lee Curtis has also said she's been approached, but she's not interested. We've also heard Dynasty diva Joan Collins has approached producers about being on the show.

Suzanne Somers' manager confirmed that the Three's Company actress "did turn it down, but only because she is too busy."

Kirstie Alley shot down a rumor last month that she had signed for the new season. "Way too chicken!!" she tweeted. "Maybe next season if I'm invited again!!!"
