Lee DeWyze's debut album is about to drop. But will he manage to transcend this year's American Idol doldrums?

The 24-year-old folkie with the "aw, shucks" manner is set to debut the solo album on Nov. 16 through 19 Recordings/RCA Records.

The adorable Illinois native won over millions of fans when he was named American Idol champ earlier this year, and he's since been headling the show's live tour that's had a somewhat rocky run this summer.

Still, he managed to work in some recording sessions along the way.

"I've been very fortunate to be able to collaborate with some amazing songwriters on new songs over the past three months," says Lee. "I can't wait for everyone to hear my debut album."

And while he may have a strong adolescent fanbase—he recently won the Teen Choice Award for Male Reality/Variety Star—DeWyze's success is far from a lock. His debut single failed to generate anywhere near the sales of predecessor Kris Allen.

So we'll have to wait and see if he can rebound.

As for our next Idol winner, much depends on the judges. The show's newly returned executive producer Nigel Lythgoe revealed on Ryan Seacrest's radio show today that fans will know exactly who will be filling the seats within three weeks.
