Sandra Bullock and Steve Carell teaming up in a film sounds like a nice proposal, but it's not happening.

At least not in the movie adaptation of The Abstinence Teacher.

A report claiming that Bullock has signed on for the flick is not true...

In fact, Bullock's rep tells us she still hasn't decided what her next project will be. (She will, however, be at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards, where she is up for four surfboards.)

As for Carell, he is thisclose to officially inking a deal for The Abstinence Teacher, which is based on Tom Perrotta's novel of the same name. The Dinner for Schmucks funnyman would play born-again Evangelical Christian who falls for a high school sex education teacher.

The indie drama will reportedly be directed by Carell's Little Miss Sunshine codirectors Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton.
