Katy? Miley? The Five Biggest VMA Snubs!

Where were Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus? Not in MTV awards show's top category

Are we going to argue with Lady Gaga? Eminem? Are you kidding?

To be honest, we don't know if we'd change a thing about the nominee lineup for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards' top prize.

But we do know we these videos—and artists—are missed in the Video of the Year category:

1. Katy Perry's "California Gurls": Candyland has never been so cool. Gummy Bears have never had so much attitude. VMA voters have rarely so missed a chance to celebrate summer in all its poofy-ness. (Like some of the other clips mentioned here, "California Gurls" is nominated elsewhere. And what we're saying is elsewhere isn't good enough.)

2. Justin Bieber's "Baby": Even if it wasn't the kid's year, which it is, how can you ignore and/or fail to properly praise the kid's choice in bowling partners? The next time we hit the lanes may we be so fortunate to share a rosin bag with Ludacris and Drake.

3. Adam Lambert's "If I Had You:" OK, aside from the fact that we want to see the censor-agitating showman prominently featured on as many live TV events as possible, we think his video is a keeper, so perfectly capturing who we are in 2010, namely a bunch of Alice in Wonderland fanatics who want to party in the Twilight woods.

4. Miley Cyrus' "Can't Be Tamed:" Dig the wings. Dig the vibe. Dig the defiance. But, yes, mostly we dig the wings. Until this video came along, we really did fear Dwayne Johnson's Tooth Fairy had ruined us on people with feathers.

5. OK Go's "This Too Shall Pass:" We speak, of course, of the treadmill enthusiasts' so-called "Rube Goldberg Machine" version, which must be seen to be not believed. (And the song's pretty catchy, too.)
