D.C. Housewives Star: Sophisticated, Doesn't Flip Tables or Pull Hair

Latest installment of Bravo franchise will not be reduced to New Jersey-like catfights and shenanigans, says Stacie Scott Turner

When Stacie Scott Turner was first asked to be on The Real Housewives of Washington, D.C., she balked.

"I was like, 'Isn't that crazy? Who would do that?' " says Turner, a Harvard-educated real estate agent. "I like to watch it but I don't like to be the subject of it."

But, after thinking about it, she decided to join the latest installment of Bravo's Real Housewives franchise…

"What was really compelling is that [producers] talked about how this series was going to be a little more sophisticated than the others and that they were looking to have the drama come from things other than table-tossing and the other stuff that you've grown to expect on the other series," Turner says.

So, no New Jersey-esque hair-pulling either?

"No, I don't do that," Turner laughs.

Turners costars include stay-at-home mom Mary Schmidt Amons, resident cougar and modeling agency founder Lynda Erkiletian, snooty British import Catherine Ommanney and infamous White House party-crasher Michaele Salahi.

With the show built in and around the Beltway, expect some politics to pop up. And we're not just talking about Salahi and her husband Tareq's unwelcome presence at that state dinner.

In the premiere episode, airing Thursday night, Turner isn't too pleased when Ommanney not only ridicules Tyra Banks but also implies that she admires George W. Bush more than Barack Obama.

"By all means, we're not like Meet the Press or any of the serious shows," Turner says. "We still have fun. It's an entertaining show. Women are aware, informed and have an opinion—and we make ours known."

And they don't flip tables to emphasize said opinions. How civil.
