With all of Lindsay Lohan's recent, uh, troubles, we couldn't help but think back to a time when Disney love triangles, instead of drug possession and DUIs, were the jail-bound star's biggest problem. You remember, right? When Linds and Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff were cat fighting for megastud...Aaron Carter.

But La Lohan's life isn't the only one that's taken a turn for the worse (or the just plain boring) since splitting from a certain ex. This got us thinking back to the good old days—aka, the '90s—and five of our favorite couples who should give it another go...

Lindsay Lohan and Aaron Carter

Aaron's party is long over, and with Lindsay's (hopefully) slowing down soon, the duo would be perfect to rekindle their tabloid-cover romance and reminisce on their glory days. A.C. has spent some time behind bars for drugs and could be a welcoming (albeit now slightly haggard) face for L.L. to see postrehab—despite talking a bit of trash on the star recently. And hey, Aaron (and Hilary if she wants to ditch her dude to get back in on the three's-a-crowd action) could definitely use an opportunity to become relevant again!

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake

Poor Britsters has never been too lucky in love, especially since splitting with fellow Mouseketeer J.T. While the twosome have been über-successful in their careers, both have suffered to some degree in their personal lives. Mostly Brit, as you know, but Justin hasn't exactly been able to spark the same flame with Cameron Diaz or current flame Jessica Biel (snoozefest, seriously). What better way to break in the new decade then by forgetting the past and making some sweet music? And a duet could be cool too!

J.Lo and Puff Daddy

Long before he was just Diddy and she was Jennifer Lopez, J to the L-O and Puffy were the hottest couple to hit the red carpet. We know that she's happily married with kids now, but Jenny from the Block hasn't had the same flavor since she split with hip-hop mogul Sean Combs. Hello, Anaconda and "If You Had my Love" trump The Backup Plan and "Louboutins." We think these two ex's need to give it another go, professionally of course.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey

We're surprised that Jessica and ex hubby Nick haven't realized for themselves how très perfect their recoupling would be, seeing as the height of their respective fame was Newlyweds. Now Nick is less relevant than when he was in 98 Degrees, and Jess only shows up on tabloid covers when her weight is yo-yoing Oprah-style. We're not exactly missing either of their music careers, but we wouldn't mind watching them argue over Chicken of the Sea for a few more seasons.

Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon

Before  Robsten or Brangelina, Ryan and Reese were the golden couple of T-town. In the meantime they've had two blah relationships with Jake Gyllenhaal and Abbie Cornish respectively, but these two babes were never more on top of their game than when they were with each other. R.W. nabbed her friggin' Oscar with Ry guy by her side. Aside from some incredibly sexy aging, R.P.'s career has remained exactly the same (MacGruber and Rendition cancel each other out) since the split. Sure the two may have had problems at the time, but both had a hand in their breakup, trust. Do it for the kids, and us, and patch your love back together!
