If it had been up to Kristen Stewart, Bella Swan may have gone with the werewolf.

It turns out the Stewart family's pets of choice are wolf-dog hybrids, which despite their resemblance to the feral nonhybrid version are completely legal to own as pets.

"He's really sweet. He, like, falls at my feet," Stewart said of their oldest male, Jack, shown in pictures during her appearance Monday on Late Show With David Letterman.

Let's just say, Letterman wasn't convinced, especially when he got to a shot of another one of the wolf hybrids standing outside with what seemed to be "dismembered, bloody bones" in the background.

"I can hear people picking up their phones right now, ordering wolves," he quipped.

Eventually things got a little contentious, with Letterman wondering why Stewart's mom couldn't have taken in a stray dog, then mentioning how wolf packs go around killing herds of elk in Yellowstone National Park.

"And you know what, it's such an awful thing because all of the hunters have much more of a privilege to shoot them because that's the only reason we're killing the wolves, and it's awful!" Stewart said heatedly, miming a shotgun blast.
