UPDATE: Jones' rep issued the following statement:
"While being followed by paparazzi, Ms. Jones struck two parked cars. She did not flee the scene; she left her license with a witness and walked to her nearby home to call the police. She immediately returned to the scene to speak with the police. No citation was issued, nobody was injured, there was no alcohol involved and there is no investigation pending."
Wonder how Don Draper would spin this?
Mad Men star January Jones, who plays the ad man's estranged housewife on AMC's hit series, accidentally plowed her Range Rover into several parked cars a few blocks from her Los Angeles home. She claims she lost control as she was being pursued by paparazzi.
The LAPD confirmed the crash, with a department spokesman telling E! News that actress' SUV was impounded, but no one was cited and there was no evidence drugs or alcohol played a role.
The officer wouldn't say whether Jones left the scene of the accident as reported by various gossip sides. However, he did acknowledge "there were claims" she was being pursued by paparazzi when it happened.
"There was no hit-and-run, just an exchange of information," said the police spokesman, noting that Jones gave her insurance details to the owners of the smashed vehicles. "That's all."
Jones had reportedly caught the eye of shutterbugs as she left the London West Hollywood Hotel after watching Game 4 of the Lakers-Celtics championship series.
News of the mishap surfaced a day after the 32-year-old actress was spotted doing the walk of shame. She was photographed exiting a taxi in front of her residence at 10:30 a.m. in the same cocktail dress she wore to the World Ocean's Day party that she hosted the night before.
