Sharon Murphy has had an all-too tragic year.
Five months after discovering daughter Brittany Murphy unconscious in the bathroom of their Hollywood Hills home, she was making yet another distraught 911 call, this time after discovering the lifeless body of Brittany's widower, Simon Monjack, at the home he once shared with his wife.
"My son-in-law, he stopped breathing," she told the dispatcher on May 23 around 9:30 p.m., according to the tape obtained by E! News.
When asked if Monjack was awake or not, Murphy said he was in bed and had been breathing just a moment before.
Authorities said the following day that Monjack appeared to have had a heart attack. Unspecified prescription drugs were recovered at the scene.
A publicist for the family said that the 40-year-old screenwriter had a heart condition and was going to undergo bypass surgery at some point after a gala they were planning for the Brittany Murphy Foundation in September.
But on the night he died, Sharon Murphy had no idea what was happening. The dispatcher at one point told her to calm down and take a breath as she pleaded with him to send help ASAP.
"Stop talking and start listening so I can use you to help me," he said.
The dispatcher instructed her to lay him on his back and open his mouth to see if he was choking, then put her ear next to his mouth to see if she could hear any signs of life. He then guided her through the steps of CPR, continuing that until paramedics arrived.
Murphy can be heard sobbing toward the end of the call.
Monjack was laid to rest Thursday afternoon in a plot alongside Brittany at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.
