Uncle Sam Calls Dibs on Anne Hathaway's Jewels

U.S. District Attorney will auction off more than two dozen luxury items given to actress from con-man ex Raffaello Follieri

Now that Anne Hathaway has a new (alleged) petty thief in her life, she really has no need for Raffaello Follieri.

Which is why she has so far opted not to seek a return on the watches, jewelry, assorted baubles and other luxury items the feds confiscated in their ransacking searches of the Italian con man's holdings.

So the gems may go straight to the pockets of Uncle Sam. The lucky dog.

After all, the sentimental value may not have been much, but the retail value is sky-high. Here's what Hathaway may walk away from:

Multiple Rolex watches, gold and silver rings and bracelets, a pearl necklace, gold chains and stone-filled pendants, a Louis Vuitton box, a Tiffany clock, a Cartier figurine and more Omega, Sekonda, Donald Trump and Audemars Piguet watches than one could wear in a year.

Uncle Sam isn't keeping all the items for itself, though. Hathaway has until May 26 to file an objection to the final forfeiture and petition to get the pieces back, and if she doesn't—and it looks as though she probably won't—the more than two dozen precious baubles will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Good riddance.
