It's tough to follow Betty White.

Alec Baldwin hosted the season finale of Saturday Night Live last night. While most of the sketches fell flat, Baldwin reached a milestone — he tied Steve Martin's record for hosting the show 15 times.

Martin, who costarred with Baldwin in It's Complicated, appeared via satellite to commemorate the occasion, thanking his "friends at Facebook Mexico for demanding I appear in this Saturday Night Live monologue," an homage to last week's unforgettable host. But Alec was not about to be upstaged.

Watch the opening monologue to see how the continued "rivalry" between these two funnymen played out on the small screen.
