Despite Miami Detour, Jersey Shore Staying in Jersey

Seaside Heights' favorite crew will only spend part of season in South Beach before heading north

Sorry, Jersey. You can't get rid of them that easily.

The Situation, Snooki and the rest of the Garden State's favorite beach bums haven't abandoned Seaside Heights for South Beach. At least not permanently.

While the cast of The Jersey Shore may have decamped to Miami this week for shooting on the second season of the controversial reality series, MTV says it's just the TV equivalent of spring break.

"Once the boardwalk heats back up, the series will return to the Jersey Shore to complete the season," says a network rep.

MTV also confirmed there was a casting call out for new, well-oiled, well-nicknamed guidos and guidettes to join the fun later this season, which kicks off July 29.

Meanwhile, 495 Productions, the production company behind Jersey Shore, is working on a spinoff dubbed the Persian Version. It will focus on Iranian-American men and women who love to party as much as their Italian-American counterparts, according to 495's rep, Bret Hansen.

Producers and Doron Ofir Casting are scouring Beverly Hills for applicants who are 21 or older, "appear younger than 30 and are outrageous, outspoken and a proud Persian-American."

"It's time to show the world that being Persian-American is a celebration of the American dream," said Ofir in the casting call.

The Persian Version will join two other knockoffs reportedly in development—one focusing on Russian-Americans from Brooklyn's Brighton Beach and another on the denizens of Los Angeles' Koreatown.
