The two, who met while filming the upcoming romantic drama The Last Song, have decided together that Hemsworth should not be her date for the big night.
Why? Here's what we've been told…
The teen queen and the Aussie actor don't want Cyrus' appearance at the show to be overshadowed by their romance, sources tell us. Nor do they want people thinking they'd use the Academy Awards to flaunt their relationship.
"Liam's a pretty low-key guy anyway," one source says. "He doesn't mind not going."
Cyrus and Hemsworth have never actually confirmed they're dating.
"We've decided that any type of relationship that we have, we will always just keep it very DL," Cyrus told Seventeen magazine last November. "First and foremost, we are best friends, so that's what I tell people all the time."
So who is the Hannah Montana starlet's date for the night? Her rep tells us, "She's bringing her mom."
No word yet if Cyrus and Hemsworth plan to meet up later in the evening for the afterparties—or if they'll stroll the red carpet together at the Last Song premiere.
