For the second time today, the distraught parents of missing actor Andrew Koenig have issued a heartfelt plea for information about the whereabouts of their son, including a direct appeal for him to contact them.
Fresh off an appearance on the Today show this morning, Walter and Judith Koenig issued a new statement that was included in a release from Vancouver police detailing the search for the AWOL Growing Pains star.
"I just want to know you're OK," said Walter, addressing his son directly. "If it means you just want to stay here, that's OK. You don't have to come back. Just let us know that's your intention."
While both the former Star Trek star and his wife again acknowledged that their son has a history of depression, they claim that "it has not prevented him from being a participant in his community and a conscientious activist."
Judith even hoped that his emotional state should not prevent him from seeking assistance to make his way back to his family.
"Andrew, there is help," she said. "You have so many gifts to offer this world and so much yet to do in this world. Look how many people love and care about you.
"You are loved, you count and you matter."
Particularly to the Vancouver PD, which has been working tirelessly since the 41-year-old was reported missing over the weekend, following up on all leads received—and there have been many.
According to the new press statement, investigators with the Vancouver Police Missing Persons department have "canvassed all the cafes and restaurants in the south Vancouver neighborhood where he was last seen, showing Andrew's photo and seeking information."
They also scoured the city's vast Stanley Park, where the onetime Vancouver resident enjoying spending time, and enlisted the help of Mounties and park rangers, resulting in a team of more than 30 people looking for signs of Andrew for more than four hours Tuesday. After combing the 1,000-acre area, investigators failed to come up with any evidence that the actor and filmmaker had been in the park at all.
As always, they concluded their plea by asking that anyone with information on Andrew's whereabouts or who may have seen him contact Vancouver police at 604-717-2540.
