American Idol: The Next David Archuleta, Only Better?

Simon Cowell thinks "the mums" are going to like 16-year-old Aaron Kelly, whose wide-eyed precociousness reminds us of another teen who stole the A.I. spotlight two years ago

With Hollywood week finally on the horizon, it's time to start predicting who's going to go the distance on American Idol.

So we're going to throw our proverbial money on the continued success of this little guy, 16-year-old Aaron Kelly from Pennsylvania, whose wide-eyed precociousness reminds us of another teen who stole the Idol spotlight two years ago.

But Aaron doesn't yet appear to have that prepackaged quality which David Archuleta had, does he?

What Aaron does have is the tween-friendly looks, the unassuming style, the good taste in music (auditioning with Miley Cyrus' "The Climb"? Score!) and the story: When he was 1, Aaron and his brother were adopted by their aunt and uncle when social services were going to take them away from their parents.

Well, we know the judges are on board (Simon Cowell already seems to have dollar signs in his eyes), and we'll find out soon enough if America agrees.
