How to describe the kerfuffle going on between hosts?

From Conan O'Brien's spectacular statement to David Letterman's cranky monologues, everybody's talking about NBC's late-night switcheroo with Jay Leno.

And that's crazy: Who knew all this good talk-show talk would be going on everywhere but on the hosts' couches?
