The fire at Universal Studios wasn't the only thing burning at MTV's Movie Awards when presenters James Franco and Seth Rogen, stars of the upcoming stoner flick Pineapple Express, took the stage with a big bag of what looked like marijuana and proceeded to light a faux joint.

If you were watching at home, you probably couldn't see it—cameras pulled wide at the last minute. But the two passed the "joint" back and forth while they told the audience, "Don't really smoke fake weed."

So what were they smoking?

Nobody really knows. Franco has been quoted as saying MTV supplied the fake baggie and joint. But it didn't look all that fake from where I was sitting. And after cameras were definitely off the pair and footage was rolling of the nominees, the two continued to hit the "joint" before a producer came out to take it away. Why continue to smoke something after the skit's over if it's not real? Just asking.

The whole fake-weed bit was almost as unbelievable as the fact that the awards ceremony had a cash bar. Unlike the VMAs, where booze flows freely, even MTV reality royalty had to buy their own drinks. Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag waited in line with all the little people for their cocktails and bought drinks for Brody Jenner. The recently reunited friends looked like they were having a great time as they took pictures together.

Whitney Port was also surprisingly friendly with Speidi, despite her alliance to their rival Lauren Conrad. (She was back by L.C.'s side at the after-party, though.) When Heidi was asked how she felt about being seated right by Lauren at the awards, she responded, “I didn’t even know she was here.” That's about as believable as her fake boobs.

Audrina Patridge was also in attendance, sporting a new set of bangs to go with her other rumored assets. Though she wasn't with Team Lauren, a source tells E! the girls still live together, along with Lauren "Lo" Bosworth.

And speaking of friends, Paris Hilton was filming more scenes for her MTV reality show at the after-party. With Benji Madden by her side, Paris spent some time with one potential new bestie.
