If anyone out there is still holding out hope that Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff will get back together, there's probably a better chance of seeing Tom DeLay doing a jive on next week's Dancing With the Stars.

It just ain't happenin', folks!

Maks made that pretty clear when we caught up with him at last night's Free the Slaves Freedom Awards at the University of Southern California's Bovard Auditorium in L.A.

The ballroom hunkster didn't miss a beat when we asked what it would take for him and Karina to reunite. He quickly answered, "There's nothing that can be done."

Like ever?

"No," he said, shaking his head side to side.

In happier news, Maksim predicts that Mya is in the lead to take home the disco ball trophy this time around.

"I think Mya is a favorite," he said. "She's running away with it. But Melissa did an amazing job [on Monday]. Joanna's doing incredible…There's a lot of great people."

And while he and Debi Mazar getting the boot so early in the competition may not have been what he wanted, Maks insists he's OK with it. "I do my best every time," he said. "But sometimes your best isn't good enough for the show. The audience gets to vote for their favorite and honestly, I'd rather not be there if the public doesn't want us there."

That's not all the DWTS we have for ya today. Make sure to come back here later on to find out what a former champ thinks of the new season and why he's so not impressed with the actual disco ball trophy.
