The folks at the hotel they left high and dry aren't the only ones who don't much appreciate Randy and Evi Quaid's sense of humor.

The Texas cop who arrested the duo after they allegedly skipped out on a $5,547 hotel bill in Santa Barbara, Calif., is suing Evi for defamation over a sign she taped up across the street from City Hall that stated, "Deputy James Davis Take Payouts, Call + Make Offers."

Davis' attorney, Jason Snell, told E! News Wednesday that her claim is entirely false.

"Deputy Davis filed a suit in Presidio County Court today for defamation," Snell said. "Evi accused him of engaging in criminal activity. He wants to set the record straight. He's been damaged and embarrassed by this."

Well, he's not the only one.

The seemingly inoffensive Randy Quaid and his wife of 20 years have been charged with felony burglary, conspiracy and defrauding an innkeeper. They posted $20,000 apiece in bail and promised to pay their hotel tab, only to spend their time instead making signs and writing notes stating that "Marfa is a great place to be arrested."

Randy Quaid's beard is a little extreme, but, according to our Grizzly Guys gallery, he's not the only celeb eschewing the razor these days.
