Oh no! Oh no! According to a New York Times piece, Oprah Winfrey may be in the laundry chute of TV trouble. They report that the ratings for The Oprah Winfrey Show have fallen nearly 7 percent since last year and have been in a decline for the past three years. Oh no!

This is terrible news, and not just for us at The Soup. For, just as the Amazon rainforest is to our planet’s precariously balanced ecosystem, so is Oprah Winfrey to the even more fragile world of television. Her commanding presence at the top of the food chain keeps the insidious pestilence of judge shows and Saved by the Bell reruns from taking over the late afternoon viewership like some plague of horrible midday locusts. And that’s only the beginning. To be blunt, if she falls, so do we all.

Let’s work on this together, people. What do you think Oprah can do to get those ratings back up into the 99th percentile where they belong? Please drop your two cents worth of thought into our comments coffer.
