Jon and Kate Gosselin have imposed a gag order on themselves.
Finally in agreement for a change, the estranged duo issued a joint statement Monday informing us that they plan to live their lives as privately as possible for a while.
"During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family," the Gosselins said. "This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation.
"Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many. Thank you."
This attempt at taking themselves out of the tabloid equation follows TLC's announcement that there won't be any new episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8 until August.
Meanwhile, the couple's pending divorce has thrown a wrench into more than TLC's shooting schedule.
Presumably figuring the whole happy-family-round-the-table concept wouldn't be as believable anymore, publisher Zondervan has indefinitely postponed the release of Kate Gosselin's upcoming cookbook, to have been titled, Love Is in the Mix: Making Meals Into Memories.
The recipe collection was originally due out sometime in November. Zondervan also published Kate's other books, Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving With Twins and Sextuplets and Eight Little Faces.
Kate filed for divorce last Monday, saying in a statement that Jon's "activities over the weekend" had left her with "no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children."
