Walking her first red carpet since Heath Ledger's death, Michelle Williams was glowing in an über-feminine Chanel lace number at last night's premiere of her new film Wendy and Lucy at the Cannes Film Festival.

Williams had just arrived in the south of France after deciding only Monday that she would make the trip to join director Kelly Reichardt in feting their film.

"She came in and had a long nap and then came to the screening," the actress' rep said.

Williams also appears in mind-trip master Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut, Synecdoche, New York, which is screening in competition at Cannes and getting early Palme d'Or buzz. On Friday she made the promotional rounds for the surreal comedy before flying back to the U.S. to resume working on the Martin Scorsese drama Shutter Island in Boston.

"It actually does feel kind of special to have two films at the same time," Williams told reporters. The experience is "something you can look back on at the end of your life and think, 'That was a cool thing I did when I was 27.'"
