T.R. Knight has confirmed he’s gay to People magazine.

"I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there,” T.R. said in a statement to the magazine. “While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

We Grey’s Anatomy  fans obviously know T.R. as our beloved Dr. George O’Malley. We also know that this statement seems to be interesting timing, given the much publicized scuffle on set last week (on which I reported exclusive details) and the follow-up talk that the fight began because Isaiah Washington said something unpleasant about a fellow castmember (which you can read about in the Awful Truth).

As someone who personally lives and breathes all things Grey’s Anatomy, I’d just like to send hearty kudos to T.R. for being such a class act. We should all be touched by his dignity in the face of all the ugliness on set and in the press. Because of that, I have to reiterate what I’ve said before: T.R. Knight is honestly one of the greatest people I know.

I mean that. I also mean this: Everything about this “scuffle” sickens me. And you can rest assured I have a vice grip on my tongue right now, cause I’d love to tell you exactly what I think.

But I suppose some things are best left unsaid.
