"I keep saying we've just got to get [Barack] Obama," Krakowski, who plays Jenna on the hit show, tells me. "We've had Steve Martin. We've had Oprah. We've had Jerry Seinfeld. We've had all these great musical greats. Let's just go for the big guns now."
Krakowski is thinking Jay Leno could help them land the president. "I always say, 'He was on The Tonight Show, so he's part of the NBC family,' " she laughs. "He might want to just come by."
And talk about coming by. Tonight's 30 Rock finale has quite an impressive lineup...
Mary J. Blige, Clay Aiken, Elvis Costello, the Beastie Boys and Sheryl Crow are just a few of the music superstars on tap for the "We Are the World"-like storyline. There are more, but they're being saved as surprises, Krakowski says.
"Before we started filming and singing together, Mary J. Blige was like, 'You were really good on The View,' " Krakowski remembers. "I'm thinking, Mary J. Blige knows me and she saw me on The View. You're Mary J. Blige! You're home watching The View?"
Krakowski also worked recently with Clark Gable. Yes, Clark Gable!
In a webisode for Breyers ice cream's new Smooth & Dreamy ad campaign, Krakowski stars as a modern-day woman who takes on the role of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind. The computer wizardry is, I must say, flawless.
"I acted by myself for three days," she says, "but the angles that exactly match what they did back in the day and then the way they colorize your skin to match exactly like I'm in the movie—I'm kissing Clark Gable!"
