For a little guy, designer Christian Siriano is big...and getting bigger.
To fans of Project Runway, this should come as no surprise—he did win the fourth season of the embattled reality competition with his "fierce" collection. But on Thursday night of Fashion Week, a little bit of star power gave his second solo show some extra sparkle.
All the jewelry in the show was made by none other than 90210 maven Tori Spelling.
"I thought it really worked with the collection," he told E! News backstage after the jam-packed crowd cheered for his black-free designs. "If it didn't work, I wouldn't have used it. It wasn't just because it was Tori Spelling's jewelry, which I want to make clear, because it was so beautiful and beautifully made. I really think it gave a look to the show."
The actress was proud, too. Very proud.
"It's just so amazing to see," she told us backstage. "Every creation for a designer is like your little baby, so to see my babies walking the runway in Bryant Park is huge for me."
The lady's excitement took on a considerably different form just before the show began.
We hear there was some drama simply getting into the show, and, once she did, everyone had already taken their seats.
However, the location of the front-row seats reserved for the bauble maker were clearly not up to her standards—we watched as Ugly Betty's Mark Indelicato was plucked from his perch and moved down only a few seats.
At least one person involved in the show was humbled.
Siriano was visibly moved when Runway judge (and editor at Marie Claire) Nina Garcia hugged him and said, "I am so proud of you. This is where you belong—Bryant Park, and maybe Paris!"
